Gas prices: BBC Radio 4’s FileOn4 reports
Further to my earlier blog post on British Gas, BBC Radio 4’s FileOn4 has reported on some of the other shenanigans the gas companies are getting up to.
Former Energywatch chief executive Allan Asher told BBC File On 4 that annual bills of around £1,200 could be cut by a third or more.

Hi Martin
Looking at my bill with NPOWER, I’ve noticed another sneaky trick.
There are two levels of charges for units: a high one for the initial ones, and then a lower one after that.
However, instead of keeping the cut-off point constant, they have a higher level in winter than summer. The effect is to ensure that as many units as possible are at the highest charging level possible (as one tends not to use as much in warm weather). Very sneaky.
