A trip to the shops?

It could be a trip to the hospital instead for many local residents.

Martin Tod collects signatures from Christmas Clog Morris Dancers in Winchester High Street
The Trip To the Shops petition was launched on December 9th, 2006 and hundreds of people across the area have signed up. In this picture, Lib Dem campaigner, Martin Tod, is shown here collecting signatures from Hampshire morris dancers in Winchester's High Street.

Dangerous pavements have raised concerns across the Winchester and Chandler’s Ford constituency from Hiltingbury to Hyde and Hursley and from Chandler’s Ford to Alresford. Too often our pavements are disfigured by botched repair jobs and ankle-twisting potholes. Is this the image we want our area to present?

In 12 years of Conservative control, Hampshire County Council have presided over deteriorating and increasingly dangerous footpaths.

Local people have had some successes along the way. After years of campaigning, it looks as if we will finally get Winchester’s High Street repaired, but there’s a lot more to be done.

Now, local people and the Liberal Democrats are fighting back! If you share our anger and concern, please sign the petition below and get your friends and neighbours to do so too. You can also use the form to report particular problem areas.

Local pavements have become a real danger. I’m backing Martin Tod’s campaign to make our streets safe.
