Winchester is going to be one of the hardest fought seats in the country at the General Election.

How Winchester voted - 2009In our most recent elections, in May 2009, the local Lib Dem team defied the opinion polls and saw a swing from the Conservatives to the Liberal Democrats across the new Winchester constituency for the third year running.

The Lib Dems won 6 out of 7 county council divisions in the new Constituency and achieved the highest Lib Dem share of the vote in any local election locally since 1998.

But to win at the General Election – we will need to do more than we did in 2009 and that means we need to raise even more money.

Every penny we raise could make the difference between winning and losing. Every penny will be used to support extra campaigning activity.  Extra leaflets in a marginal ward.  Extra postage to reply to people who have contacted us. Extra newspapers to take our message across the whole constituency.

Every penny takes us a step closer to a greener, fairer and freeer Britain – strong action on the environment, protection of our civil liberties, lower taxes for people who are struggling, an honest foreign policy, trusting local people to make decisions rather than everything being decided in Whitehall, more support for young people – with practical action on crime and an unshakeable commitment to improving our education and health.
